Beauty Treatments to Try Out Post-Pandemic

Over the past year, many of our lives have changed significantly as a direct result of the coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic. Just twelve months ago, we were living life as normal. For twelve months now, we’ve had to completely change our routines in order to slow the spread of this potentially deadly virus around the world. Of course, our efforts have been worth it. They have saved many lives. But at the same time, it has been difficult. Social isolation and social distancing mean that many of us haven’t spent time with the people we love for a long time now. Many of us miss our friends. A lot of us are working from home. Many have lost their jobs. The list of consequences goes on and on. Another area of our lives that the pandemic has affected has been how we take care of ourselves. Gyms have been closed. Healthcare facilities have been difficult to access. It may sound trivial, but many of us are also missing our beauty routines. The good news is that right now, vaccines are being administered around the world and the future is looking bright. We should be able to get back to doing what we want pretty soon! If you’ve been missing your beauty routine, you may want to line up some treatments for when salons and other businesses are allowed to reopen. Here are just a few that you might like to take into consideration!

Skin Peels

Many of us use exfoliators in our day-to-day routines. Chances are, you’ve still been exfoliating throughout this pandemic. This is a great step in any beauty routine that can help to remove dead skin. But if you want to really get into this when salons reopen, you may want to look into peels. These are face masks that safely expose a whole fresh layer of skin, leaving you glossy and glowing. If you have scarring such as acne scarring, a chemical peel for acne scars can help to reduce this.

Manicures

Over the past year, many of us have been painting our own nails at home, or have had to remove our nail varnish and go bare. But manicures are one of the most common beauty treatments on the market for good reason. Sure, you can do your own nails at home, but unless you’ve completed a beauty training course yourself, chances are you’re missing the high quality finish that you will get from a professional salon. So, why not book yourself in as a treat? When you have a manicure, you will find that your nails are shaped as you please and often polished. The technician will remove any existing polish that may be still on your nails, buff your nails down with a file and then shape them into whatever shape you’d like. Some popular shapes that you might want to take into consideration include:

  • Rounded
  • Squared
  • Coffin shaped

Next, you will decide on the colour if you’re going to have a varnish applied. Gel varnish is most recommended, as it is sealed with a UV lamp, preventing chances of chipping. This will give a much longer lasting finish – often your gel will last for weeks. This is also a great option for anyone with weaker nails, as gel polish can strengthen the nail plate and prevent breaks. If your nails are really weaker, or if you want longer nails than you can easily grow naturally, you can also try acrylic nails. These will help you to have nails any length and shape you wish.

Pedicures

While you’re at the nail salon, why not book in for a pedicure too? In some ways, a pedicure is quite similar to a manicure but carried out on your feet instead. Some of the steps will be the same. A good pedicure will see you sit down in a comfortable chair. Often these chairs have massage features to really help you relax. Your feet will be soaking in warm water, often with jets to massage the feet and toes. You may be able to request salts or essential oils in the water. Your feet will then be scrubbed, removing any dead skin from the soles. After this, your feet will be dried and your toenails will be treated. Your cuticles will be clipped, the nails will be clipped or filed down and then shaped neatly. If you like, you can also have polish on your toes. Many people opt for matching gel to the nails on their hands.

Eyebrow Threading

Have you tried eyebrow threading before? If not, why not give it a go? Many people prefer this method of eyebrow management to plucking (which can be extremely time-consuming) or waxing (which isn’t quite so precise). Threading can help you to get the shape and finish you’re aiming for thanks to an experienced professional. Put simply, eyebrow threading is an ancient hair removal technique, originating in Asia and the Middle East. A piece of cotton thread will be twisted into a double strand and swept across any areas where you want the hair to be removed. The unwanted hairs are lifted from the follicle, which is relatively pain free. Threading can be extremely precise and is much better for sensitive skin than other hair removal methods. It’s always a good idea to go to an Eyebrow & Brow Bar St Louis Missouri, or one near you, to get this treatment done. The brow technicians will be able to get a more precise result and shape than if you were to explore doing this yourself.

Microblading

If you have thin brows and want a fuller look, why not try microblading. This is a beauty treatment that will help to make your brows look bigger and fuller. It is a semi-permanent kind of tattoo artistry, which may sound intimidating at first, but is actually fine. A professional will use a simple handheld tool to implant pigment under your skin in hair-like strokes. This will help to create the illusion of natural hair. It isn’t painful and can be extremely natural looking when carried out well!

These are just a few different beauty treatments that you may want to try out when salons and stores are allowed to reopen. It’s been a tough year, so why not treat yourself?
