Get those steps in

Regarding your physical health, everyone seems to think that you need to go to the gym every single day to stay healthy. Or, you need to go for a run if you want to improve your fitness. Both of those things won’t do you any harm, but the easiest physical health tip is to walk. That’s right, walk! You’ll be amazed at how many calories you burn from getting 10,000 steps in a day. This should equate to just over an hour’s worth of walking, which is much easier to achieve than you think.

Plus, walking puts less pressure on your joints, which can prevent injuries. It still gets your heart rate up, so there’s an element of cardio involved. The more time you spend walking, the healthier you will be. Or, let me rephrase that: it will be harder to be unhealthy if you walk 10,000 steps a day (or more!).

Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep every single night

You see a lot of weird information on sleeping online. Some people claim that you should only sleep when you feel tired, or that you don’t need many hours at night. In all honesty, sleep is right up there as one of the key things needed for a healthy life. A lack of quality sleep will lead to all sorts of physical and mental health issues – not to mention problems with your skin, hair, etc.

When you don’t get enough sleep, all the hormones in your body go a bit crazy. The hormone that’s responsible for your appetite freaks out and starts signaling that you’re hungry. In turn, this makes you run to the kitchen and eat way too much food to try and feel satiated. Thus, you can start gaining weight due to a lack of sleep. Also, waking up tired makes you feel stress and can cause dark bags under your eyes. People who don’t sleep very often are more likely to develop wrinkles from an early age as well. So, aim for 7-8 hours as this is generally considered the perfect amount of sleep to refuel and keep you healthy.

When it comes to your hair, keep it natural

You put your hair through a lot of stress. Think about all the different products and things you apply to your hair throughout your life. You may use shampoo & conditioner, hairspray, some type of hair pomade, and so on. You may also dye your hair, along with all the heat treatment it gets from drying, straightening, and curling. Realistically, most of the products you use contain harmful chemicals that ruin your hair’s health. By the time you’re in your mid-twenties, you’re walking around with some straw on top of your head. At least, that’s what it will look and feel like!

As such, the ultimate hair health hack is to keep everything natural. Look for natural hair care products that don’t contain loads of weird chemicals. This is such a simple tip that will instantly improve the way it looks and feels. Secondly, try to let your hair dry naturally instead of using a hairdryer as the heat can really damage it. The less you do to your hair, the healthier it will become.

Find something that helps you relax

Mental health is a big concern in modern times, and it’s made even more concerning during the ongoing pandemic. It’s a peculiar thing as dealing with your mental health is both challenging and simple. You won’t magically deal with your problems overnight, but handling the symptoms can involve doing really straightforward things – like finding something that helps you relax.

For example, reading a book can easily calm the feelings of depression and anxiety as you take your mind to a different place. Listening to a podcast can do the same thing, as can drawing, taking a supplement like two-day kava, going on a run – the list is endless. I’ve left this quite open-ended as there isn’t a specific activity that will work for everyone. Some people say that meditating or doing yoga is excellent for mental health problems, and it could work for some of you, but not for others. But, focus on finding that one thing that takes you to a happy place and calms you down. So others can understand the significance of mala beads for meditation as it plays an impressive role in the process. It can also be utilized to calculate breaths or used in a thankfulness meditation.

Keep yourself hydrated

Water is responsible for so many different processes in your body. Without it…you will die – it’s as simple as that. Drinking ample amounts of water every day is the key to seeing so many health problems disappear. It can help you feel more awake and alert, it can give more of a glow to your skin, and it can prevent constant nagging headaches from forming. Most of those things were happening because you were slightly dehydrated anyway!

That’s another thing: you assume that dehydration is when you’re on the verge of dying from a lack of fluids. That will happen eventually, but it exists as a spectrum – you can be slightly dehydrated and very dehydrated. The best thing to do is to drink as much water as possible during the day. The exact figures are hard to pin down as it has a lot to do with your bodyweight. One pro tip is to measure yourself before and after exercising as it shows how much weight you lost due to sweat. Therefore, you can drink the equivalent in water to make up for lost fluids!

Was there anything remotely complicated about any of these tips? Nope, they’re all simple to follow, so there’s no excuse to not follow them! Apply these ideas to your life and you will see health benefits in so many different ways.
