To take better care of our hair there are tools that should be a necessity for our beauty routines. These beauty tools can be used for all hair types whether straight, curly, short, long, relaxed, and natural or colour treated hair. With the use of these tools in our daily hair routine, we can achieve a variety of hairstyles and our hair routine becomes easier. Check out these essential hair tools:
Satin Cap/Bonnet
If you are a natural and love to do wash n’ go one way to maintain this hairstyle during the nights is by wearing a satin bonnet. The satin bonnet helps to keep the hair together and not squish it down during sleep. The satin bonnet also helps the hair to retain moisture much longer.
Satin Pillowcase
Sleeping without head wrap can be harmful to our hair especially if sleeping on a cotton pillowcase. A satin pillowcase helps to retain the moisture in your hair and helps to prevent breakage while we sleep.
Spray Bottle
The spray bottle can be used to refresh any hairstyle. One of the main purposes of a spray bottle is to mix other products/ingredients together to create your own DIY leave in conditioner etc.
Diy Homemade Moisturizer Spritz
Wide Tooth Comb
Using a wide tooth comb better helps to detangle the hair especially during wash days. I love to use wide teeth comb while I use conditioner in my hair.
Afro Pick Comb
This specially designed comb can be used to add volume to the hair by picking the hair in an outward motion. By ‘picking’ it makes the hair/curls fuller and fresh.
Hair Clips/Hair Claw Clips
Hair Clips are great for separating and grasping hair ends. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes. I use these to separate my hair prior to styling so that my hair can be easily managed and during showers to avoid my hair ends from getting wet.
Bobby Pins
These pins can be used to create numerous amount of hairstyles as they are great for pin-ups, updos and so much more. They are often affordable and come in handy all the time.
Applicator bottle
Applying oils to the scalp can become messy especially with it running and dripping all over the place. The applicator bottle allows you to moisturize the scalp precisely by putting the tip to the scalp. If you have a variety of oils like the sweet almond oil, Jamaican Black castor oil etc. and would like to use all at once then the applicator bottle is perfect for mixing oils together. It also comes with a measurement scale to guide you on the amount of product that has been placed in the bottle. The applicator bottle is also great for other DIY techniques and hair dye mixtures.

Plastic Processing Caps
If you are looking to deep condition or steam your hair then a plastic processing cap should be the best fit for this job. Some will substitute it for a plastic sack. Plastic Processing Caps helps to retain the moisture while treating the hair.
Shower Caps
Wearing a shower cap during taking a shower prevents your hair from getting wet and helps to retain your hairstyle.
Wig or Head Wrap
A wig or head wrap will come in handy for quick hairstyles or even a bad hair day.
Microfiber Towel
Using a microfiber towel helps to dry the hair without the use of heat. I use the Turbie Twist after my wash routine instead of opting for a hairdryer.
Diffuser
Sometimes we wash and style the hair but when it is ready for the take down in the middle or some sections of the hair is still wet/damp while the ends may be still dry. This can be experienced if we use roller sets, do flat twist etc. A diffuser helps to dry the hair from the root to ends without interfering or making a mess of the already done hairstyle. I love to use my diffuser especially after doing a wash n’ go hairstyle.
Denman Brush
The Denman Brush helps to define the hair’s natural curls. I recommended using it during to process of achieving a well-defined curled wash n’ go hairstyle.
Regular Brush
Great for brushing edges in place and helping to lay hair. A toothbrush can also be used as a substitution for laying edges.
In Conclusion
I hope that I have provided you with enough information to find a hair tool that suits your hair type. Also, this should help you with finding the right tools to maintain and style your hair. If there is a specific tool that you love or a substitution that I did not mention. Please share in the comment box below.
