Hydrated skin is healthy skin. You don’t want your skin to be dried out and itchy or flaking, or it could cause lots of problems for you. Dry skin can look dull, and it’s not a great idea to apply makeup and other products to dry skin either. You might be liberally applying moisturizer and body lotion every chance you get, but that won’t necessarily help if you’re not doing a few other things. If you want to get better hydrated skin, you can try a few different things to achieve that healthy glow.
Drink More Water
If you’re trying to hydrate your skin, it makes sense that you should make sure your whole body is hydrated. There are lots of things you can have to drink, but if you’re hoping for healthy skin, the best thing to do is to stick to water. It has minerals in it that are good for you, and it doesn’t contain anything that could stop you hydrating properly. If you have drinks with caffeine or even alcohol in them, they’re going to make you pee more. You might be drinking liquids, but you won’t be retaining a lot of what you’re drinking. And sugary drinks might taste better, but they’re not exactly healthy. Water is best, and you can add some flavoring to it to make it more interesting too.
Eat Hydrating Foods
If you get bored of pouring water down your own throat all the time, there are other ways to stay hydrated. One of the ways to get more liquids without having to drink all the time is to choose foods that are higher in moisture. This includes fruits like watermelon and vegetables like cucumber, celery and bell peppers. They’re good for you in other ways too, containing lots of vitamins that will help you to get healthier skin. These foods are great for snacking on raw, as you’ll be sure to get all their moisture. If you want to cook some of them, try using steaming as a cooking method, rather than boiling. Stir-frying is a good method to use for some vegetables too.
Sleep More
Getting more sleep can actually help to hydrate your skin too. Sleep helps your body to heal and gives your skin time to repair itself. Drinking before you go to bed is a good idea, at least to make sure you’re not dehydrated. If you haven’t had enough to drink, you could struggle to sleep or sleep poorly. But you might also need to get your timing right, to make sure you don’t need to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. While you sleep, you can lose some fluids just by breathing, so it’s important to go to bed feeling well-hydrated.
Find the Best Products for Your Hydrated Skin
You probably have a moisturizer and other moisturizing products to help your skin stay healthy. However, there’s no point in having these if you’re not using the best ones for your skin. You need to choose products that are compatible with your skin type, as well as picking the ones that will offer you better hydration. At SkinStyle, you can find products from Jeunesse ranging from moisturizer to hydrating masks that are designed to get your skin looking and feeling its best. It can take some experimenting to get the best products for you. If you have sensitive skin, for example, you might want to stick with totally natural, fragrance-free products. The Best Natural Skin Products are tested on a variety of skin types, so even if your skin seems to react badly to most things, natural skin products should work better for you. Don’t be afraid to try out a few different ones.
Clean More Deeply
If you want your hydrating skin products to work, it’s a good idea to start off with clean skin. If your skin isn’t clean enough, you might be stopping your products from penetrating your skin properly. Start off by making sure you’re using the right products for cleaning your skin. Then consider some other options for cleaning your skin that might give you a deeper clean. For example, a sonic cleaning brush could be what you need.
Exfoliate
Another way to get a deep clean for your skin is to make sure you exfoliate. It’s not something you need to do all the time, and there are different levels of exfoliation. Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin cells to rejuvenate your skin and help it to absorb moisture better. You can exfoliate with face and body scrubs, or you go a step further by having a chemical peel. You can also get milder versions of the same treatment that you can use at home and won’t leave you looking anywhere near as red.
Hydrate your skin, and you’ll find that you’re glowing more often. Make sure you hydrate from the inside, as well as the outside.
