Growth as a Blogger/Influencer

Have you ever wondered how a small hobby can eventually turn into a regular job? Not just a 9-5 job but a job that you can do on your own time, from any location in the world, and having fun while earning from it. I started out blogging while I was in university. This was just a college project that turned into a hobby now I can consider myself as a self-employed blogger. My first blog called Simple Troubleshoot was based more on technology but it did not work out as planned. Without giving up I started my second blog ‘Beauty That Walks’ which is geared towards lifestyle, beauty, travel, etc. From there I became a dedicated blogger my ultimate goal was to keep my blog as active as possible by posting content regularly and staying updated with trends. Some ways that my blog grew through the years include:

Influencer Marketing

Influencer Marketing involves finding the right brand and/or bloggers to work with whether it’s for free, paid, and/or in exchange for products and services. Brands are reaching out to micro-influencers that shares similar lifestyle interest and not only relying on celebs to promote their products and services. Through doing this you will get to work with major brands while connecting to people within your network also creating a long-term relationship for future reference. Some influencer marketing activities include:

  • Sponsored post
  • Product reviews
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Content placement
  • Blogging events and much more.

Social Marketing

Social Marketing involves being active on the most popular social network such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, and the rise of Tic Toc, etc. Growing your following is an important step to being a successful blogger. With a large network, your content can be easily seen by others. Social Marketing is also a great way to gain collaborations. By simply using hashtags such as #bloggerswanted #bloggersrequired #blogopp you are sure to find a generous amount of blogging opportunities. There are also tons of blogging network that has easy sign-ups.

Who is blogging for?

Blogging is a diverse community of influencers; it is an organization just for about everyone. Becoming a successful blogger, requires a stable internet connection, a working laptop, a reliable hosting service such as Siteground, a blogging platform such as WordPress, some SEO help, and having the knowledge of putting pen to paper. There are so many niches to select from and it’s best to select a niche that you are passionate about. Being a passionate blogger will improve your growth as a blogger – you will not quit when your first published post gets less than 100 pageviews, shares, etc.

Conclusion

Being a blogger is fun; it is creative work at your own time and your pace. It takes work to reach 10,000 pageviews but this does not shout giving up. It says to work harder! Even the most influential blogger has a post that they regretted posting sometimes during their growth rate due to the low page views. Do not be discouraged and join the blogging network. If you are not new to blogging what was it like when you decided to become an influencer?
