It’s funny how when we humans have spare time to ourselves, we don’t know what to do or how to spend it. Most of all, we don’t know how to make the most of it. If you often find yourself lying around during your free time and wonder why you have wasted hours doing nothing, then this post is for you. As good as it can be to relax your body during downtime, there is no use doing absolutely nothing every time you have a spare hour or two. Here’s more on how to make more of your free time.
Find Something Useful To Do
If you often find yourself being bored during free time, you most probably thrive off of being productive or doing something useful. For those wanting to do something more than lying around or cook your favorite meal, you could volunteer or find a small side hustle.
For example, you could find delivery work to earn extra income during your time off. Or, you could volunteer at a local charity shop if they need an extra hand. Instead of feeling uninspired or useless during your free time, do something useful with it.
Schedule Your Time
Scheduling your time is a great way to maximize your productivity and get stuff done. It is also useful for creating a healthy work-life balance. Without a schedule, it can be easy to let work tasks take priority and not actually get enough free time to focus on yourself or things you love.
You can have fun whilst being productive too. For instance, schedule time to meet with friends for coffee and a chat, or dinner and drinks. Or perhaps you would like an hour New York Sports Betting or working out at the Gym. Whatever it is, organize your time, don’t waste it.
You may want to do this to plan for now for after the pandemic. If you found you had an unhealthy or unproductive work-life balance before the pandemic, if you start prioritizing your time and schedule now, it is good practice for after.
Learn To Say No
Your free time is your time. Learning to be more productive during your leisure time comes with having to decline invitations or requests. Learning to say no can help with that.
If you often find yourself fulfilling others’ tasks and not having enough time for yourself then you are not making the right choices. Be selfish and ensure that your free time is spent exactly how you want it to be. You do not want to burn out or push your priorities aside. Saying no is for the benefit of yourself and you will witness how more self-focused you can be when fulfilling your free time with things you want to do.
Focus On What’s In Front Of You
As we said, we often don’t know what to do with ourselves during our free time. We may often start a task and get distracted because we remember there is something else you also wanted to do when you had a spare hour.
In order to maximize our free leisure time, we need to focus on the task at hand. If you know you had three things you wanted to do during your free evening (bake a cake, organize your wardrobe, and finish your book), schedule your time accordingly and focus on one thing at a time. It can be more frustrating leaving a job half done.
