Now making it easy to support black entrepreneurs online today and every day now that this incredible AI-powered beauty search engine, Mira, has launched a dedicated space for independent Black-owned beauty brands to gain visibility from potential customers so that they are easier to discover, which in turn will help them increase customers and sales online, thanks to Mira’s beauty app and growing marketplace segment dedicated black-owned beauty brands success.
Mira is an amazing beauty app that compiles millions of user ratings & reviews on thousands of skincare and makeup products from top beauty brands from across the web – all in one place for beauty shoppers, advocates, and novices to get the recommendations they need to make smarter buying decisions. Mira, being a progressive trailblazer in the beauty industry has recently added a feature that now promotes users to easily shop black-owned beauty brands in one marketplace.
According to Mira’s very own CMO, Benjamin Lord, there has not been much information regarding Black-owned beauty brands available to the public to begin with, which presented a challenge to Mira’s endeavor to help black-owned beauty brands flourish. “Mira summarizes product and brand information from the entire web, and in this instance, there was not much to aggregate,” he said. “As a matter of fact, Mira’s aggregator was never able to source Black-owned indie brands distributed at Sephora or Ulta, and our portfolio was built manually over time,” he added. To date, Mira has compiled a list for shoppers to purchase products from over 400 Black-owned beauty brands.
“While you’ve seen multiple Black-owned brands and products lists online and in the press, we wanted to truly be actionable,” said a Mira representative. “Our first response was to make a donation to ColorOfChange.org and Black Lives Matter and acknowledge the pain and hurt of the community. As a result, we halted regular communications and dedicated our Twitter channel to support protesters and provide donation and petition links, as well as resources for the movement. We are taking a stance as a brand.”
Previously, the Mira beauty platform, which launched publicly back in October 2019, obtained skincare & makeup product listings from large retailers and via social media, but due to a lack of content volume from these sources, black-owned beauty brands lacked visibility within Mira’s expansive beauty catalog. To get around these challenges, Mira manually sourced black-owned beauty brands through online lists, invited users to add brands not featured, and sourced recommendations from Black content creators.
“We used social listening tools to capture information from lists circulating on social media. Additionally, our team had candid conversations with Black creators, which has been so valuable, and we’re grateful for their time and wisdom,” continued the Mira representative.
Now, as of this week, Mira lists more than 400 Black-owned beauty brands within their beauty verse. Brands can easily be found by the hashtag #blackowned or by searching “blacked owned” using the website’s search bar, where shoppers can easily find dozens of top indie black-owned beauty brands, top-ranking skincare & makeup products, most-mentioned beauty products, along with product ratings & reviews from users of all types and flavors.
With a growing community of beauty professionals, advocates, and novices as the primary source for insights, Mira continues to utilize its high-value crowdsourced model to expand on its growing catalog of black-owned beauty brands. Other goals are for them to begin blending it with other categories, such as vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainable beauty too.
