Spring is finally here (even though it hasn’t really been looking and acting like it) and some of the latest trends have me excited about revamping my spring wardrobe and getting prepared for the sunnier and warmer days to come. I know it can be quite daunting to start thinking about the clothes you want to wear for the season when the weather may not be fully cooperating. There’s actually a plus side to this and that is we have a bit more time to fully purge and get our closets ready for when the weather is more consistent. This can lead to spring cleaning your wardrobe at the same time.
With that said, today I’m sharing some easy steps you can take to create your perfect spring wardrobe in hopes of helping you get a little more organized and make your life easier.
Consider a capsule wardrobe
One of the first things to consider would be a capsule wardrobe. It is a great way to streamline your choices and make you think about your outfits rather than just adding numerous items to your collection; which can be rather tempting (I know!). Start off with the basics, such as a simple white tee and cami, cardigans in neutral colors, denim shorts, and a great pair of sandals with a comfortable heel, perhaps a wedge. Once those pieces have been added; you can then consider colours, patterns and textures that can easily be mixed and matched to create different outfits for different occasions, such as lounging, work, or date/girls’ night. By considering versatility; you’ll be more likely to avoid pieces that will be worn a couple of times and will live in your closet until next season, which is a waste of time and money.
Consider accessories
Accessories are not something to forget about this season, as they can really transform your outfit. From the choice of jewelry you wear to the shoes that you put on your feet, each accessory can add a different element to your overall outfit. As with a capsule wardrobe, you can (and should) make considered choices with the accessory designers you invest in. There are many ways that they can change the dynamic of an outfit, for example, dressier shoes can turn a casual outfit into something more glamorous. Jewelry can add a different dimension to a plain work combination; making them quite the game changer and allowing for you to go basic with the rest of your outfit if you so choose, as previously discussed.
Step out of your comfort zone
If you aren’t normally one for experimenting with your outfits then don’t despair as spring and summer is the ideal season to get started and step out of your comfort zone. The weather helps in terms of giving you more confidence to wear items of clothing you may not have ordinarily worn before. Embracing skirts if you are a lover of jeans. Trying on strappy tops if you prefer to keep covered up. Don’t be afraid to try new things, and this can be the same for things like your hair and makeup.
Don’t forget the other aspects of your appearance
On the subject of hair and makeup; make sure you take into account the other aspects of your appearance that can help when it comes to your choice of outfits. For example, your feet will have been hidden away in socks and boots all winter, so you may need to give them a little love with a speedier and a quick paint of the toenails ready for sandal weather. You may also want to spend some time on your skin revamping your routine and moisturizing your body.
I hope that these tips help you create the perfect spring wardrobe this season.
