Diamonds are forever…or are they?
For years, the diamond has been at the center of every engagement ring. If you think about an engagement ring, you instantly picture a big fat diamond sitting in the middle. However, perhaps it’s time for a change? There’s a growing trend of couples opting for other stones instead of a diamond. Amongst all the options, emeralds seem to be the next in line. It begs the question; are there any advantages to choosing an emerald over a diamond? As it turns out, there are!

Some of the highest-end emeralds might be rarer and could be more expensive, but the stone generally ends up being cheaper. Yes, you can still get loads of different diamond engagement ring designs and styles – nobody is disputing that! Still, there’s something about swapping a diamond for a green emerald that’s very different and unique. It can make your ring stand out, which is what everyone really wants, right?

There’s a very compelling argument that emeralds are more diverse than diamonds, offering you more styles and settings to choose from. Certainly, you can see where this argument comes from. There’s something different about an emerald that makes it fit with a broad range of styles. You see a lot of Celtic jewelry using emeralds, and they’re also present in many traditional or classic designs. At the same time, you feel like an emerald holds its own in more modern engagement ring designs. No matter how you look at it, there seems to be a style for everyone.

Despite emerald rings being cheaper, they are still as valuable as diamonds in the sense that they will increase in value. So, you’ve still got yourself an investment that can be cashed in if you ever see fit. Or, most likely, something you can hand down to the next generation and it still is worth a lot of money.
Engagement rings are one of those things that are often stuck in the past.
