Throwing a bridal shower for someone you love is a truly unforgettable occasion. You’ll want to make it as special as possible for the bride to be plus all of her family and friends. Perhaps you’ve never thrown a shower before and are looking for a place to start? It’s good to get as organized as you can in advance so that everything runs as smoothly as possible.

1. Choose a theme

Themed bridal showers can be a super fun way to give the day that wow factor. You may want to sit down with the bride’s close group of friends to discuss which themes you feel that she would like the best. Create a short-list, and narrow the themes down one by one. When you are brainstorming, remember to focus as closely as possible on the bride’s preferences. You’re likely to have lots of good ideas, but it’s got to be a theme that she will love first and foremost. You could try a Parisian theme, an elegant ball, a tea-party or a fairytale. Depending on your bride’s personality, she might appreciate something more quirky (like an ‘enchanted forest’ theme or superheroes)!

2. Get Personal

Ensure that you personalize the bridal shower as much as possible, you’ll want the bride to feel super loved and spoilt. Choose an activity that she will really love and incorporate it into the day. It could be anything from karaoke to arts and crafts. Decorate the space with her favourite colours and serve her favourite foods and drinks. Simple touches like so will make for the perfect day. From the potential engagement rings to the preferred wedding favours; the bride will want everything during this journey to be personalized and unique to her.

3. Dress Code

Your dress code may already arrive with your theme, yet if you’re not choosing a theme- it can be a good idea to choose a dress code anyway. Putting a dress code in place can make for some amazing pictures. You don’t have to go overboard with this; it could be something as simple as asking everyone to wear the same colours or the same style of attire.

4. An Awesome Playlist

Music is everything when it comes to creating a fabulous time. Brainstorm all of the bride’s favourite tunes and create and amazing playlist. Use songs that complement the theme too. Think about the progression of the playlist, do you want to start with slow and melodic vibes and build up to the dance music later? Or do you want a consistent style of music? You might even know a local band and want to go down the live music route?

5. Shower Games

Games can be an excellent way to spice up any shower. You could try a scavenger hunt complete with clues and prizes? Or you could try a game of wedding-themed charades? There are plenty of fun bridal shower games to be found online. If you’re not sold on the games route, activities can be just as fun. Set up a cocktail making activity or ice-cream parlor booth.

6. Storytime

When you send out the invitations, give your guests a blank sheet of paper on which to write a fun story or memory about the bride. At the shower, have everyone put their story in a hat and pick a select few to read out loud during the day. The rest of the stories in the hat can be given to the bride as a keepsake. For a personalized wedding experience, it’s these little touches that make all the difference.
