For all those intimate dinners and parties, your living room and dining room are the perfect venues. Dressing up your interior spaces is fun and relatively easy to do, and in the winter months – obviously perfect for entertaining.
But, here’s the very good news that we’ve all been waiting for: not only is summer just around the corner (even though if you’re in some of the northern states it may not yet feel that way), but Covid (dare we say it) almost seems to be making its way into the pages of history, right where it belongs, and that means it’s time to get busy entertaining again, and with the spirit of summer in mind, we’ve put together a few ideas to bring that garden space of yours back into good use.
Summer Mornings
Just think about it, those long, lazy, languid days of summer of nearly upon us, and summer mornings are perfect for Champagne breakfasts, brunches, and “drunches” – which is really just a brunch…but with more daytime cocktails. Now, remember, if you’re going to be hosting an early event where alcohol is going to be served, be the host with the most, and set your guests up with Uber or a designated driver to get them to and from your home, it’s a classy touch and it’s the right thing to do.
Think of a beautifully dressed table with fruit, pomegranate, and Champagne cocktails and everyone’s morning favorite – Mimosas. Add a pinch of chili powder to your Mimosa for a real kick.
Summer Afternoons
Clear away the outdoor furniture, lay down some outdoor blankets, and pick up some picnic baskets that you’ll fill with wine, cheeses, crackers, bread, and edible flowers in salads laced with balsamic vinegar and a very special ingredient – tequila. Just enough mind you, too much kills the flavor of everything else and too little will leave your guests feeling like something is missing. Summer Nights
Open skies, a canopy of stars (if you don’t live in the city that is), and the perfect opportunity to turn your garden into something of a wonderland. Some cleverly hidden lighting, fairy lights in the bushes, blankets on the ground and one of the most fun things to do with family and friends now that the technology is so much cheaper and of awesome quality…a backyard movie theater.
Remember to keep your movies age-appropriate if you have younger kids around, but with some creative twists like getting in waiter and bar staff in for the evening, will create a night to remember, and if you’re feeling a little fancy – get it catered too or even better, rope the men in to do the cooking before movie time.
