Depending on which way you come from, you may need to do your visit to Charleston last but it’s worth mentioning first. If you’re heading to South Carolina for some R&R, Myrtle Beach is a must-see. You’ll enjoy miles of white sand and plenty of space to sit and bask in the sunshine. The beach also has a long pier to stroll on when you want a change from the beach.
When you get tired of sunbathing, Broadway at the Beach is nearby and is home to the state’s largest shopping and entertainment venue. Choose from mini golf, rides, dining and there’s even Ripley’s Aquarium.
Places to Eat
When you visit South Carolina, you better be ready to eat. There are fantastic dining options wherever you turn. Hilton Head Island is the best place to head to when you want to experience the best in the state.

Plantation Gardens
Did you know South Carolina has over 2000 plantations that can be visited? Magnolia Plantation first opened in 1870 and is known as one of the most beautiful gardens open to the public. Other plantations include Boone Hall and Drayton Hall.
Many of these plantations also include exhibits and tours that discuss the lives of the many slaves who worked to keep these plantations running up until the 19th century.
Congaree National Park
Just thirty minutes south of Columbia, this national park is a great option to those who like to spend time outdoors. This forest has an abundance of wildlife and is a splendor to see. It’s ideal if you’re traveling with dogs and want somewhere different to take a walk.
If you like adventure, the national park is full of it. With plenty of trails to choose from plus kayaking and canoeing, you certainly won’t get bored.
