A good vacation is lying by the pool, staying all-inclusive, and just chilling by the beach, isn’t it? But for many people, that is not going to be their idea of a great time. Some chilling is a must, but if you love to explore the country or city that you’re in, then activities and adventures are always a good idea. From hiking to sailing, there are so many great activity vacations that you can try. They can be pretty inexpensive too, as you’re not going to be lining up for any all-you-can-eat buffets. So here are some of the best spots around the world that will satisfy the adrenaline junkies among us.
Santorini, Greece
The stunning island of Santorini is a great backdrop for adventure. From stunning azure blue skies and crisp white buildings, it really does look like a postcard. Cliff diving, snorkeling, and quad biking are a must in Santorini, though. It is quite a hilly island, so a quad bike is the best way to get around and explore.
Split, Croatia
Croatia is growing and growing in popularity with tourists. And the city of Split is one of the most popular places to travel to. From yacht holidays to cruises, anything to do with water is a good thing in Croatia. The weather can be simply amazing, and sailing out onto crystal clear water and swimming with the fish is ideal.
Marco Island, Florida
Just at the edge of the Florida Everglades, you will find the tiny isle of Marco Island. If camping, kayaking, and hiking are your thing, then this is the pace to be doing it. You can even go fishing and bird spotting if you’re a budding ornithologist. Good weather, adventures, and the outdoors; what more do you need?
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
For a vacation like anything you’ve ever done before, then walking in Charles Darwin’s footsteps and take a trip to the Galapagos. Nature and wildlife are simply amazing, and there are plenty of chances to swim, dive, hike, and surf among the geological site.
Swiss Alps
You can’t mention adventure and not mention Switzerland. Whether it is hiking the mountains in the summer or skiing the slopes in the winter, there is plenty to do and see. You can swim in the lakes in the summer, as well as sled the slopes in winter. The Swiss National Park is also a must for adventure and nature lovers, with over 600 km of protected nature.
Reykjavik, Iceland
In winter or in summer, the weather doesn’t seem to change too much on the volcanic island of Iceland. With hot springs, lakes, and volcanoes, you can hike, swim, and hot tub to your heart’s content. It has some of the most unique and breathtaking scenery in the world.
Phuket, Thailand
The island of Phuket in Thailand is one of a kind. There are plenty of luxury resorts to relax and sit by the pool, but there are elephant treks to explore, as well as boat trips, and snorkeling. You might even come across some monkeys when you’re out exploring on the beach.
Have you ever been to these places? Would love to hear what you think.
