When you have an exercise regime up and running, you want to get the most out of every session. Whether you’re a gym bunny or you’re desperately trying to shape up for summer, here are some handy hints to help you get the best out of your body.
Finding exercise fun
Do you dread going to the gym? Do you have to drag yourself to the pool? Are you bored of the same old running circuit? If so, it’s time to vary your workouts and start enjoying your sessions. It’s really hard to maintain motivation if you’re bored or you don’t have fun when you work out. Exercise doesn’t have to be dull or painful. There are plenty of activities out there you can try. If you can find something fun to do, you’ll look forward to working out, and you’ll get more out of the exercise. If you’ve already tried the gym, switch things up and do some classes, go trampolining, get on your bike or learn to dance.
Getting your diet right
Many people start exercising more frequently to try and lose weight. This is fine, but often, working out is teamed with eating less. While this can make you drop dress sizes, it can also affect your performance. Your body needs fuel to get through a workout, and if you’re not eating enough, you’ll hit a wall. You read a lot about supplements like protein powders and nugenix today. Some people swear by them, but they’re not always necessary. It’s best to talk to your doctor or your personal trainer if you’re thinking of adding training supplements to your diet. Try and ensure you’ve eaten before you exercise, but give your body time to digest meals. It’s best to wait at least an hour after eating before you start your warm up. As well as fueling your body with food, you also need to make sure you stay hydrated, so take a bottle of water with you.
Setting body goals
When you have a goal, you’ve got something to work for, and this can encourage and motivate you when you’re working out. If you’ve got that target in mind, you’re more likely to push yourself and try and get results. When you’re setting goals, make sure they’re tough, but don’t be unrealistic. You want to test yourself, but your target must be obtainable. If there’s no chance of you reaching your goal, this will only knock your confidence and set you back. Treat yourself when you achieve your objective and then start again with a new goal.
If you’re on a health drive or you’re trying to get that summer body in check, you want to get the most out of your body in every session. Try and stay motivated by doing different activities, having fun, and setting goals. Don’t try and lose weight rapidly by exercising on an empty stomach. Your body needs fuel to work hard, so stick to a healthy, balanced diet that gives you everything you need. If you struggle to take your workouts to the next level or you give up too easily, it may also be a good idea to work with a trainer or take a buddy to the gym with you.
